Elementary Circle

The Elementary Circle is aimed at mathematically motivated students in grades 1–4. The main objective of this class is to introduce young children to the elements of mathematical culture and ideas using age-appropriate activities.

About the Elementary Circle

Teaching methods will vary depending on the lesson’s mathematical content, and may include demonstration of experiments, storytelling, guided discussions, independent work, teamwork, hands-on activities, and handouts.

Sessions are 1 hour long. The same instructors run the circle throughout the year. Some sections are for students in grades 1–2, others for students in grades 3–4. Placement is based on grade in school, not mathematical ability.

NOTE: We have increased the number of sessions we offer, so we will offer a course in each time slot below on Wednesday and another on Thursday. Students attend a course on just one of these days, and the section meets weekly.
